In terms of the services we offer, our basic philosophy is this: if we can add it, and it doesn't cost us anything to add it, then we'll add it - presuming, of course, that somebody actually wants it. If a client wants a particular service added that requires a cash outlay to buy software and/or hardware, then as long as the client is willing to supply the cash, we'll hook it up. It's that simple really.

We offer two different levels of web hosting services: NumanFan and Commercial. Each also comes with email services - click on EMAIL SERVICE in the menu to the left for more information.

All prices are in Canadian dollars, not American dollars. To check what it comes out to in your currency, please access our Currency Conversion Page.

NumanFan

This comes in four basic configurations.

20 megabytes - FREE!
100 megabytes - $22/month, $55/quarter, or $200/year
250 megabytes - $33/month, $87.50/quarter, or $300/year
500 megabytes - $44/month, $110/quarter, or $400/year

All configurations come with three (3) email addresses, with the exception of the free 20 meg service, which comes with one (1) email address. Additional mailboxes are priced at $10/year. (Pricing is in CANADIAN dollars - for US dollars, multiply by about 0.65 or email me for a current quote) NumanFan accounts can be used only to house a Gary Numan-related site. And yes, we will be checking, especially insofar as free sites go. :-) See our Terms Of Service for more information.

If we are registering your domain name for you, your first payment must be for at least three months (one quarter) - monthly billing is available after that. This does not apply if we are transfering your existing domain or if you are not registering a domain. Free account customers do not receive free domain registration services - do it yourself. :-)

Commercial

This also comes in four basic configurations.

100 megabytes - $33/month, $87.50/quarter, or $300/year
250 megabytes - $49.50/month, $131.25/quarter, or $450/year
500 megabytes - $66/month, $175/quarter, or $600/year

What You Get

Regardless of which account/configuration you choose, you'll get all of the following as well.

HTTP Service - Duh. This is your basic web service. You will also be permitted to house your Perl CGI scripts here - however, you're asked to keep us informed of new script additions, so that we can monitor and inform you if anything goes wrong.

FTP Service - This is how you upload your files to our web server.

Domain Hosting - You can choose to use our domain name (GaryNumanFan.NU) or register your own domain name with the InterNIC or other appropriate domain registry. We will house your domain name free of charge. Additionally, if you send us the registration fees ahead of time, we'll also take care of the actual registration on your behalf. If you've already got a domain name registered, we'll take care of transfering that domain name here (although we may need your help with this, particularly if your ISP made the original registration on your behalf). Email Hosting - Your account comes with a specified number of email addresses. These can be configured to forward mail to your existing email account, or you can use our server as a POP3 mailbox and/or an outgoing SMTP server. See the EMAIL FAQ for all the details on how this works. You can choose email addresses in the "GaryNumanFan.NU" domain, or in your own domain, or mix and match.

RealMedia Server - We've got a copy of the basic RealServer G2 installed, which allows up to 25 concurrent sessions shared between all sites. You don't need to use the RealServer for all of your streaming audio or video, but it has several advantages. See the REALSERVER FAQ for more details.

Insert Your Service Here - As stated above, if we can add it without cost, we'll do it. If it's gonna cost money, you pay for it. If it requires an expert to install it, you pay for that too. :-) All requests will be evaluated in terms of what impact it will have on all of our other users. In other words, if you wish to add a service that's going to consume a LOT of resources, you may also have to pay for the cost of adding an additional server machine. Most additional service requests will, I'm sure, be for relatively minor things, and we will do our best to accomodate them all.

Domain Parking

If you're not interested in setting up a website now, but want to reserve a domain name for future use, you need a place to "park" your domain. That is, the naming authorities will not let you register a domain unless there is a service that already exists willing to take responsibility for hosting the domain. We will register your domain for you (registration fees are payable in advance) and park your domain here for $36 (CAD) per year. If you later decide to host your domain here (and purchase one of the accounts detailed above), your bill will be discounted by a pro-rated portion of this fee. Parking fees are otherwise not refundable.

Remember, all prices are in CANADIAN dollars. I can't spend pounds, lira, drachmas, marks, schillings, or even euros. Which is a darned shame, actually - our currency is kinda weak. :-) I will, however, accept US dollars so long as it is in the form of a money order or bank draft - cheques take 4 to 6 weeks to clear and thus I'm not willing to accept them. For your convenience, we have constructed a Currency Conversion Page to help you translate things. BE SURE to get a quote from me before sending US dollars.
